REVIEW: Pupa Palette vs. Elf Brightening Eye Colour in Butternut

Pupa make up Palette.

I had to literally had have my fingers sink in the eyeshadow pan to get the colours showing. Yes, lack of pigmentation.

The blush's texture is pretty nice and pigmented and you get quite an amount, but the colour is horrible. At least on me.

The sample sized mascara is pretty cute, but it's just a standard brush, doesn't do anything to my stick straight short lashes.

To be honest, I was not going to make a review about it, because I got it as a present and I don't want to review a present I guess. But then I realised, I make the review for the sake of people buying these things. I have to tell you one thing. This thing on ebay costs around €20 + shipping costs. Is this worth the price? NO. I mean the eyeshadows barely have any pigment and the lipglosses are sticky and not pigmented at all. The blush's texture is pretty nice and pigmented and you get quite an amount, but the colour is horrible. At least on me. I mean, how can the blush be more pigmented than eyeshadow? The sample sized mascara is pretty cute, but it's just a standard brush, doesn't do anything to my stick straight short lashes. The packaging really is gorgeous though but the actual palette is not good. With €20 you can go to e.l.f or nyx cosmetics and stock up in some higher quality eyeshadows which are definitely worth the price.

E.l.f Brightening Eye Color in Butternut

I only have this palette of this product, so I do not have another one to compare it too. The packaging looks a little bit cheap, but then again, it really is cheap. With regards to pigment, the lighter shades are fairly pigmented and the darkest one is really pigmnented. I have been using this as my everyday palette ever since I bought it,and I really am very pleased with it and the result looks so natural. The 3 lightest shades do have shimmer n them, but it is the kind of shimmer which makes it wearable for daytime. The darker shade has little or no shimmer at all, If you're looking for a cheap palette [yes, it's only £1.50] which is portable and having neutral colours this might actuall be your HG.

Out of these two palettes, I highly recommend the e.l.f one, not only because it is way way cheaper, but because it works really really great. The colours on both palettes look really similar in the packaging but the e.l.f one is much much better. It is definitely not the case of you get what you pay for, this product is really really good for the price. I would love to call e.l.f butternut a dupe, but it's more worth it than that.

FTC DISCLAIMER: I am not paid to do this review. I bought the products myself for my personal use, except for the pupa palette, which I got as a present. I am not affiliated with any company. Everything I said in this review is my genuine honest opinion :)

REVIEW: E.l.f 's different concealers [with swatches!!!]

Top to Bottom.
tone correcting concealer [light beige],
under eye concealer and highlighter [glow/light],
all over cover stick [honey/light] - only one shown in this photo.

E.l.f STUDIO LINE: Under eye concealer and highlighter in glow/light

E.l.f Under eye concealer and highlighter in glow/light

E.l.f Under eye concealer and highlighter in glow/light

Initial reaction:
I'm not amazed to be honest. It does not give you full coverage, I mean I have pretty bad under eye circles. But it's an OK product. Most probably I'll still buy again because when mixed with the highlighter it really brightens your eye even if it does not give you that full coverage . Packaging is cute. Not one of my favourite products though. No detectable smell.
After:
I changed my mind – It is a great product, I'm used to creamy textured concealers – which you drag on your face. Since it is of a liquid texture, you have to pat it on until it blends to your skin rather than drag it. I now use the highlighter on top of my cheekbones because I realised that it does have shimmer which is very visible during daytime. And this is very suitable for daytime. Does not look cakey or whatever on the skin. Blends beautifully. 3/5
The packaging. Soo cute. Just like NARS packaging.

E.l.f REGULAR LINE: tone correcting concealer in light beige

E.l.f tone correcting concealer in light beige

E.l.f tone correcting concealer in light beige

Because it is a liquid concealer, if you drag it along your face, you won't have any coverage at all so you get the best out of this if you pat it on until it blends. However, I am not so impressed. I tried using it on spots. I don't find it has great coverage. But if reapplied you get more coverage. Because it is lighter than my skintone, I find it works better than if it matched my skin tone perfectly. But that's just me. I can't complain though, because for the price it is a good product. Oh. And I love the way it smells. Sugar orange. I prefer elf' s all over cover sticks to be honest. Much more coverage and easier to work with, however, it is more suitable for daytime that the all over colour sticks.

E.l.f REGULAR LINE: all over cover sticks in light beige and honey

E.l.f all over cover sticks [left to right]: light beige and honey

All over cover sticks have great coverage and are so easy to apply, they have become my favourite concealer at the moment. I would not use this product for foundation, the consistency is more concealer like rather than that of a foundation cream. I have this in honey and light beige and I use light beige for my really bad under eye circles and it does wonders and I also have this in tone 2, honey, which I use for my pimples and to conceal any redness and nose area.

MASCARA REVIEW: Avon's Super Curlacious Mascara [with photos!!]

Brush:
normal length
Slightly thick
curved
flexible

I used to use this with avon supershock mascara just at the tips because I find that the supershock mascara creates volume whereas the supercurlacious lengthens. It is really black.

When I first got it I used it on its own. It clumped my lashes and I didn't like it. But I love it when I pair it with supershock. Having said that, I think there are better mascaras out there and this is definitely not my holy grail. I already purchased another supershock mascara and I have not yet bought another supercurlacious one and I don't think I will to be honest. I also had a problem with this mascara, for some reason the stopper broke at one point, it got fixed on its own after a couple of days so I don't know what went wrong. Plus – when the stopper actually works it works brilliantly. It picks up just the right amount of product but there is something wrong with this mascara because regardless of the multiple rubber bristles, it still clumps up my lashes quite a bit. Damn you. Also, not very buildable because regardles of the fact that avon claims that it is “supercurlacious” the more you use it, the less curly your lashes will become. Packaging is very simple. Black sleek packaging and contains 7ml. Would I repurchase? No. Would I recommend? Well, not really but you can give it a try and see how it works for you. Sry avon. I love the supershock one though. If you want to give one a try, try that one. A plus with this one is that it is very cheap.

Brush size and shape compared to other brushes.
Brushes [from top to bottom]:
1. Max Factor Lash Extension Effect
2. Avon Supercurlacious Mascara
3. Avon Supershock
4. L' Oreal Voluminous - Original

Rating: 2.5/5 [very low rating because I am very picky when it comes to mascaras]

NYX tea rose & fig round lipstick [REVIEW with swatches!!]

Overall nyx round lipsticks:

Pros:
x creamy
x glides very easily
x cheap for a good quality lipstick
x moisturising
x cute black packaging
x very pigmented
x nyx is against animal testing
x have a colour display of the lipstick at the bottom of the tube identical to actual lipstick.

Cons:
x not long lasting, but I don't mind reapplying

I am going to review the following lipstick colours:

Round lipstick [left to right] : LSS 628 Tea Rose, LSS 640 Fig

LSS 628 Tea Rose lip swatch

LSS 628 Tea Rose: matte, very similar to Nyx's Round Lipstick: LSS 640 Fig yet suitable for daytime wear and is more wearable. It is a rosy pink which is not too loud. I wouldn't say it is a MLBB colour and it may be a bit too bright for those with fairer skin tones but it is a very pretty shade. I will definitely repurchase when I run out. Everyday colour – to pair with neutral eyes for daytime wear. Great texture. Will definitely repurchase. The most lippie I use.

LSS 640 Fig lip swatch

LSS 640 Fig: a gorgeous matte bright pink. Very similar to LSS 628 Tea Rose but brighter. A bit too bright on me for daytime wear yet gorgeous for night time. I wouldn't pair it with heavy eye make up. Goes on very creamy. No need for lipgloss. I find it very moisturising and it does not feel sticky at all on my lips. One of my ultimate favourites. Would I recommend?- Hell yes. Gorgeous colour. - may be a bit too bright on fair complexions though. I like to use this with a bold eyeliner look.

Hand Swatch [left to right]: LSS 628 Tea Rose, LSS 640 Fig

Paper Swatch

Side Note: all swatches were not paired with any other product.

MASCARA REVIEW: Max Factor Lash Extension Effect Mascara [with photos!!]

Mascara Review

Ok so.. A couple of years ago I was the type of person who would tell you that I could work make up without wearing mascaras because my lashes are not that nice in the first place. You know what. I was waayyy wrong. No matter how straight or short your lashes are, you can open your eyes with mascara. I'm so in love with mascaras that I load my lashes [yes I love to apply at least 2 coats of mascaras] not only on the upper lashes, but also on the lower lashes. Now, there are a ton of mascaras out there. And I have NOT tried them all, obviously.

TIP: You have to keep in mind that a mascara dries up within 6 months, so if you're experimenting with different wands and formulations, do not [I repeat] DO NOT open up a bunch of mascaras at one go. Because unless you plan to use like 5 mascaras within 6 months, you don't want to end up with a ton of dry mascaras.

Every now and then I'll post a review about mascaras I have tried myself. Now you have to keep in mind that my lashes are quite short [but I've seen shorter] and quite straight and hard to curl.

After this looong intro. Yes. Back to the review. Ok. Spotlight today is on:

MAX FACTOR LASH EXTENSION EFFECT.

I have this in black.

what it does? -
separates lashes brilliantly. As usual, this mascara did not give me what it promises. Far from lash extension effect. I've worn falsies before. This mascara doesn't even come close to lash extensions.

If you like a mascara which separates your lashes and gives you a natural look with no clumping, then this might actually work for you. It does not give you volume. It does give you a little more length. Not too much though.

It is not as black as I hope for in a mascara
It has 6.5 ml product in it..
The stopper is not the best I have had but it is ok, it is not the worst either. - I love really good stoppers, I hate excess products in a mascara.

Packaging – really cute. Matte black packaging.

The Brush:
Flexible,
rubber,
plenty of bristles
long and thin

Brush size and shape compared to other brushes.
Brushes [from top to bottom]:
1. Max Factor Lash Extension Effect
2. Avon Supercurlacious Mascara
3. Avon Supershock
4. L' Oreal Voluminous - Original

Hence, this is not a miracle mascara for me. I would not repurchase because I don't think this is the best mascara for my lashes.

I would recommend this mascara for people who have long and beautiful lashes, because it does not clump and highlights your natural lashes instead of enhancing them.
Very buildable.

Rating: 2/5 [Rating is very low because I am very picky with mascaras.]

NYX strawberry milk & narcissus round lipstick [ REVIEW with swatches!!]

Overall nyx round lipsticks:

Pros:
x creamy
x glides very easily
x cheap for a good quality lipstick
x moisturising
x cute black packaging
x very pigmented
x nyx is against animal testing
x have a colour display of the lipstick at the bottom of the tube identical to actual lipstick.

Cons:
x not long lasting, but I don't mind reapplying

LSS 595 Strawberry Milk

LSS 595 Strawberry Milk

Lip Swatch : LSS 595 Strawberry Milk

LSS 595 Strawberry Milk: a pale pale matte pink which is blue based. I suggest this lipstick for cool tones for that reason. It doesn't looks shimmery on my lips but it does have a little shimmer. It is a great lipstick to tone down brighter lipsticks or to pinky-up a boring lipstick. I find this shade difficult to wear on its own. When you rub your lips together, the application becomes sort of horrible looking. I don't think I'd repurchase because I don't use it that often but it really is the perfect shade to give brighter colours that better pop. - I suggest this colour for that reason – a sort of lipstick transformer. Or rather – lipstick highlight

LSS 509 Narcissus

Lip Swatch : LSS 509 Narcissus

LSS 509 Narcissus: a bright barbie doll pink with blue undertones which suits cool skin tones very easily. Not for daytime wear. Looks gorgeous when paired with strawberry milk on the centre of the lips. It can be worn with medium dramatic eyes. It is not the type of colour I would pair with a dark smokey look though. It does not look shimmery on my lips and it does have shimmer in it [similar to strawberry milk]. It is not the type of colour I suggest for a natural lip or a conservative personality since it is very bright. I may repurchase if I run out. It is, however, a little slippery just like strawberry milk.

OVERALL RATING: 5/5
WOULD I BUY AGAIN: HELL YES!
WOULD I RECOMMEND TO A FRIEND: DAMN RIGHT

Silky in texture. Is not very pigmented, which is a good thing. Serves as a setting powder to your foundation and/ or concealer and also tones down certain complexion imperfections. Love the product. The packaging is identical to that of the warm bronzer. Since I do not need much coverage, I prefer to use this product rather than compressed powders. Feels great on your skin. It is somewhat scary to look at at first, but NO you will not looks like a clown. You can use the colours individually or mix them up, I tend to mix the whole lot together. Before blending, it may look slightly white on your skin, but it is so easily blendable. Highly recommended. I use it daily.- Do not have overly high hopes for this product. No- it will not magically make all your redness disappear, nor will it vanish all you pimples. It will just help to even out your skintone- just a bit. Don't expect miracles. I am saying this because I read reviews saying that it didn't do anything to their face and is not a miracle worker and it is such a shame trashtalking this product. Because it is not meant to be a miracle worker. And it does what it promises to, at least to me.

You can get this product from the UK site:

p.s. That little dot in the middle of the palette is the bottom of the container. I use this daily and I love it, so I may need to restock real soon.

REVIEW: Elf's Warm Bronzer

ELF studio line Warm Bronzer £3.50 / €4.00

[UK SITE: http://www.eyeslipsface.co.uk]

OVERALL RATING: 5/5
WOULD I BUY AGAIN: MOST DEFINITELY
WOULD I RECOMMEND TO A FRIEND: YEP.

Description of the product [taken directly from the elf website]:

"Bronzers

Directions

Net Weight: Warm and Golden Bronzer: 0.4339oz (12.3g)
Cool Bronzer: 0.4586oz (13g)"

Ingredients [taken directly from the elf website]:

"Mica, Talc, Magnesium Myristate, Zinc Stearate, Titanium Dioxide, Octyldodecanol, Dimethicone, Silica, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Boron Nitride. May Contain: Iron Oxides (CI 77491 CI 77492 CI 77499), D&C Red 7 Lake (CI 15850), FD&C Blue 1 Lake (CI 42090), Red No.40 Lake (CI 16035)"

I think this is my favourite product out of the bunch. You get 4 different shades and you can use them individually or mix them together. I have read reviews online saying that this is the most bronzer out of all the bronzers elf provides that suits most skintones. It is very easy to work with. It does contain shimmer. I hate shimmery bronzers tbh but the shimmer comes across as a golden warm glow for your face which makes it suitable for daytime. Hence, the shimmer is not too obvious. I will definitely repurchase if I run out. The packaging is so cute. It is similar to the pricier NARS products' packaging.

E.l.f (eyes lips face) cosmetics review

Probably half of my make up is from elf. This is because the products are so cheap and affordable and most of the products are amazing and they can be pretty good dupes for other higher expensive brands. The company is cruelty free and animal friendly and that to be honest is impressive. The studio line is really really great, in my opinion. You can buy elf cosmetics from www.eyeslipsface.com if you're from the US. But I buy mine from the UK site www.elfcosmetics.co.uk . The customer services of the UK team is amazing. The last time I bought from the site, I got my products in 3 days so they are definitely trying to improve on the shipping service. Plus if you follow them on the facebook fan page: http://www.facebook.com/elfcosmeticsUK you can get the details as soon as a promotional code comes out and restocking and stuff like that. Plus – the more fans, the more codes :D

You can see reviews on www.makeupalley.com for their products. I will review the products I have purchased very soon so stay tuned :D xx
