Dyna's Random Daily Tip !! 30/9/11

I'm going to start a new series of posts in which I post random daily tips

that I learned from others,

tips I have learned through time with my own experiences and

other random tips that happen to work for me.

It doesn't hurt to say it

even if someone already knows it

or it doesn't work for everyone..

but it just might help someone out there.

TIP!!

Use eyeshadow primer under your eyeshadows to make your eye look last all day.
Use that same eyeshadow primer under your under eye area or any other problem areas where you wish to apply your concealer to blend the product easily and also prevent your concealer from creasing.

My favourite eyeshadow primer is ELF's mineral eyeshadow primer.
It's bottom line amazing and I definitely recommend you try it out for yourselves xx

That was my random tip of the day..
I hope you found this helpful guys ..
and let me know which eyeshadow primer is your favourite below..
I love to see other people's perspectives :D

ELF mineral lip liner in peachy [review with swatches!!!]

HELLO GUYS!!
I don't know if you remember..
or if you have read it but in an earlier post
I have said that I have laptop troubles and there is a chance I lose all photos I had planned for a total of 50-60 posts.
Yeah. I know. It sucks big time.
So the laptop's at the technician and he said he'll do his best
but there's a possibility that the hard disk got ruined so he might have to let go.
Anyway.
This was one of the posts I already had taken photos of.
I had lip swatches, product photos and everything..
so it sucks to have to take them again.
I hope he'll manage to back up all my files because honestly it's going to take me long hours to retake them all.
Anyway.
I'm going to shut up now and start with the review.

This is one of the products I seriously LOVE. I use this all over the lip because it works fabulously as a matte lipstick and is not drying.
I have a backup of this one because I figured I'm going to use this up quite quicker than I might have thought,
since it's a lipliner but I use it all over the lip.

PACKAGING
I love the packaging.
I honestly have no complaints with it.
It's a twist up liner
The words on the packaging did not fade away,
and the name is CLEARLY stated on the packaging.
The only thing that could perhaps "better" the packaging
is that there is a similar shade at the top or bottom so that it would be easier to find the if you have various shades.

TEXTURE
I LOVE the texture.
LOVE it.
It has a semi-matte finish.
It applies like a dream..
does not tug my lips,
does not dry my lips,
does not make my lips look overly dry.
It looks like a stain on my lips,
which is brilliant.

PIGMENTATION
Brilliantly pigmented.
One swipe is enough to see the shade
on the lips.
Can't complain - seriously.

BUILDABILITY
Well, if you want to reapply or something you definitely can,
but the shade intensity is not going to change because this stuff is seriously pigmented
so you get maximum intensity with first swipe.
So while it won't do anything wrong when you build it up..
you definitely don't have to build it up.
It's that brilliant.

STAYING POWER
Awesome staying power.
While I don't know the exact hours this lasts..
this lasts for a really really long time.
Having said that, because of the matte consistency this doesn't transfer
so if you're drinking you're not going to see any of the lipstick on the cup or glass.
Is it brilliant or what??

SHADE
This is a lovelyyyyyyy peachy shade.
It is not a nude peach though, because some people might be mistaken that it is,
it's definitely suitable for daytime ..
it's more of a corally peach shade.
I don't see any reddish undertones, just orange.
It's just that.
A gorgeous coral peach.
LOVE IT.
As for the other shades..
Brown, Rose and Raisin.
While I don't have any of them because they look boring to me [haha.]..
I would LOVE it if ELF created some awesome vibrant shades..
like an orange, a nude peach shade, a pinky purple..
I would be sooo first in line to get them.
Elves, you NEED to extend this range.
I'm telling you - the NYX slim lip pencils are so famous,
these are even better with regard to texture, packaging and everything.
But the range HAS to be extended.
You need plums, reds and every exotic shade on the color wheel,
and this can be your next BEST seller item.

FINISH
Matte finish, which is STILL not drying.
Isn't that hard to do?
Damn Right.
But the elves managed !!

SMELL
A faint cosmetic smell,
very faint.
Doesn't bother me one bit.

BOTTOM LINE
OMG. I am so totally in love.
There is a very very valid reason why this gets sold out real quick.
It's THAT awesome.
I will not get any more shades though,
I am not interested in the other shades.
Fair skin tones - you might not like this shade
but I think this looks fabulous on warm skintones.
Elves- please please please come out with new shades xxx

Dyna's Random Daily Tip !! 29/9/11

TIP!!
Liquid Concealers often have lighter coverage than cream concealers.
Liquid Concealer tend to blend easier than cream ones and look more natural.

My current favourite concealers are:
for under eye area: ELF all over cover stick in apricot beige
for blemishes and spots: ELF studio line concealer pencil and brush in light [an even drier formula = more coverage, tends to be more cakey in texture.]

ELF all over cover stick

ELF studio concealer pencil and brush

What are your favourite concealers?
I'd love to know..
and do you prefer liquid or creamy concealers?
That's my random tip for the day.
Thanks for reading, and take care xx

ELF studio lip conditioning lip balms spf15 [review with lip and hand swatches!!]

HELLO GUYS!!

I have another ELF product review today!!
I would have never ever tried these unless the 50% off code came along.
I initially got two shades: mellow melon and nice and natural.
I fell in love with mellow melon and I got the last shade I was interested in:
peaceful pink.
In fact, I'm so not surprised ALL three shades that I own are currently out of stock.
I will gladly pay full price for these..
especially mellow melon.
and here's why:

PACKAGING
Ok so I'm going to be honest with this one.
I hate the packaging.
I hate lip products in tins.
And even more, this is seriously bulky for a lip conditioner.
But yeah the product is great enough that I continue to use it even though
I hate the packaging.

TEXTURE
This is not quite like a gloss.
It's a thicker, more moisturising version of a gloss.
But kind of looking like a gloss too.
Does that make sense?
It's like a creamy lipstick which is glossy,
Does that make better sense?
Lol.
Ok. Think Sleek Pout Polishes.
Pretty much the same, but less greasy.

PIGMENTATION
Very nicely pigmented.

BUILDABILITY
Very buildable.
You can apply it sheer,
or even more opaque.

STAYING POWER
Pretty decent.
I wouldn't say it's really long lasting
because it isn't..
but it fades nicely and after a good 2-3 hours I'll gladly reapply

SHADE
Nice and Natural: A greyish kind of nude with a pink undertone.
Mellow Melon: A lovely coral pink
Peaceful Pink: A neutral medium pink

ELF studio conditioning lip balm spf15 in mellow melon lip swatch

ELF studio conditioning lip balm spf15 in mellow melon
FINISH
Creamy, Glossy
SMELL
A fruity vanilla smell
and has this nice sweet sugary taste

BOTTOM LINE
I definitely recommend these. And even if you hate the bulky tin packaging like me.
I would give it a shot.
You might just happen to love it.
Like me.

FOTD!! exotic yellow, red and orange eyes feat Sleek Curacao Palette !!

 HELLO GUYS!!
This is another look I came up with using the Sleek Limited Edition Caribbean collection idivine Curacao palette..
I think it's a bit too daring for me.
I can wear smokey eyes with ease..
but these bright eyeshadows I can't get used to haha.
I would still use them.. but not in this manner..
I do like the look..
but it's a bit too artistic and colorful for daily use for me.

 Here are the photos:

Dyna's Random Daily Tip !! 28/9/11

HELLO GUYS!!

TIP!!

Use clear mascara on your brows to:
A - get rid of any powdery look from eyebrow powders
B - keep them polished and in place all day .

Use clear mascara to brush away you annoying baby hairs away from your face.

I use my trusty ELF wet gloss lash and brow mascara in crystal for this step.
I have used up 2 whole tubes..
and have 2 more back ups xD

 What's your favourite clear mascara?
Or are you one of those people who just can't be bothered?
Let me know below guys xx

ELF studio line small precision brush [review with photos] !!

 Hello everyone :)))

I have been working like crazy on these ELF reviews and other posts..
but mostly ELF reviews.
I have been testing out products like crazy to give you the best type of review I can give you in the most concise and to the point manner, whilst still being honest and trying to be as detailed as possible.
But I'm loving every single minute of doing this because I know my posts might help someone out.
Anyway.. I'm going to shut up now and get to the point. haha.

THE BRUSH
Synthetic Bristles as are all studio brushes,
very easy to clean..
black so they won't stain..
nicely dense and very consistent.
It has a tapered tip at the top.. which I didn't expect
.. because it didn't look like it had a tapered tip on the side.
but that's a good thing, don't get me wrong.

THE HANDLE
Has a nice weight to it.
Generously long, so you can have better control on what you're doing.

THE PERFORMANCE

to apply eyeshadow
I have used this to apply black eyeshadow over my black ELF cream liner..
and it works fabulously for that,
even though ..
I must say.. this is the type of brush which works better with cream products

to apply lipstick
this applies lipstick quite well, even though,
I must admit.
I'm very much a rebel so
I always apply my lipstick straight out of the tube
which concludes- I wouldn't use this brush very often for this application

to apply cream eyeshadow / cream liner
Now this is my favourite purpose fort this brush.
My beloved studio line concealer brush is too huge to apply cream eyeshadow on my lower lid..
so things might get messy,
which is where this Small Studio Precision Brush comes in handy.
It applies it like a dream..
even on the waterline!!

BOTTOM LINE
I think this is the type of brush you wouldn't know you'd ever need until you got it and started using it every single day ..
I definitely love this, and highly recommend this!

OVERALL RATING: 5/5!!

FTC DISCLAIMER: I am not paid to do this post. I bought the product myself for my personal use unless otherwise stated and I am not affiliated with any company. Everything I said in this review is my genuine honest opinion :)

TIP!!
Press Powder on your face as opposed to dusting it all over,
A - you get more coverage
and B - you don't drag your concealer or foundation and/or concealer as you're doing it.

I heard this from gossmakeupartist, which happens to be one of my favourite gurus on youtube,
and ever since he said this, I have been using my ELF studio powder brush to press powder foundation against be skin.

Out of curiosity..How do you guys apply your powder foundation ??

Revlon Colorburst Lipstick in Peach [review with swatches!!]

Hello guys!!
It's quite rare for me to review products by Revlon.
and actually I only own a handful of stuff from their collection.
I think they have a nice range.
and I'm currently very interested in their lipstick range,
but I have too many lipsticks at the moment haha and I'm only sticking to the same 3 or 4.
and my addiction has shifted to eyeshadows lately.
I've been into colours, neutrals, smokey eyes
and all that makes my heart skip a beat as soon as I see them in their packaging.
Anyway. This review is about a lipstick which I would say is quite highly raved about.
and I'm talking about Revlon's Colorburst Lipstick in Peach.

PACKAGING

Very sleek.
Typical of a lipstick packaging.
Almost Chanel-esque.

TEXTURE
Quite moisturising,
and smooth on the lips and on application

PIGMENTATION
mm. this is quite sheer actually,
I would have to swipe it 3-4 times to get a similar shade to that in the tube.
This can be a plus.. if you're into sheerer more subtle glossy kind of shades.
but it can be a miss if you're into highly pigmented matte shades - like me.

BUILDABILITY
Yeah, it's buildable.. it won't cake up or look funny
and the shade intensifies as you build it up.

STAYING POWER
Average. 2..3 hours..

SHADE
A sheer medium rusty orange shade with a reddish undertone.
It's a shade I normally like.
But I don't.
The red undertone seems kind of unflattering on me..

FINISH
I thought this is a creamy / glossy finish
this has a soft frost finish to it though...
which I just can't seem to get over.
I hate frosty finishes.
I kind of get rid of it with a gloss.

SMELL
No annoying smell here.

BOTTOM LINE
When I actually wear this [- which is rare..]
I like to pair this with Revlon's Super Lustrous lipgloss in Coral Reef.
I definitely could have passed on this.
It seems unflattering on me on it's own
and I would rather wear other orange lipsticks on their  own..

Bourjois Volume and Fast Rotating Mascara in black [review with photos!!]

Hello guys.. !!

I'm a bit of a freak with my mascaras,
I'm super picky when it comes to using them..
so I always try to experiment with new mascaras especially with those mascaras that everyone
keeps raving about.

For your reference,
I have straight short lashes with not so much volume.
So I need volume, length and lift.
Yeah. I'm a bit hard to please.

PACKAGING
A nice, quite bulky mascara. And yes - this thing rotates.. both ways..
but you have to direct it which way you would like it to rotate.
I'm not very keen on the rotating part..
because I find it rather weird to just stand there rotating my mascara..
This one time - my lashes even got tangled and the thing obviously kept rotating
and it hurt lol. Not that much ..
but yeah it did.
And also funnily enough..I find it less messy when I guide it through my lashes as opposed to nervously staring at my eye while it rotates.
Not that I'm complaining.. it just works better for me without the rotating part.
I love that it rotates though..
I always have a blast when I have a friend over and I show how it rotates.
It feels cool haha.
Anyway.. on another note..
the words kind of faded away eventually which sucks.
But I can live with that.
